You're quoting a quote from a link, it's not a question I raised.
It won't take long, the OP was asking why he was going to have to renew, and subsequently said he couldn't drive unless he renewed.
The link was to show you can drive, albeit you are commiting an offence.
The link goes on to suggest insurance may be invalid, I'd guess that would be in a similar vein as no MOT invalidates insurance. Not true.0 -
What are the chances that you'd get stopped ?
I know someone who has been driving for over 30yrs now the only licence she ever had was a provisional when she was 17. And if you warn her that one day she'll get caught, she laughs in your face.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Aren't you pedantic. How helpful of you. It amounts to the same thing - you cant drive unless you renew it.
Yes you can. The fact that your photocard has expired doesn't remove your entitlement to drive.
However, don't expect every policeman to understand this. There was a thread about this on pepipoo.com some time ago.0 -

I agree - bikeman's comment about you being pedantic is typical of what I used to hear from my students every day.
"It's the same thing!"
"It amounts to the same."
"You know what I mean."
"It's near enough though."
or the wonderful - "What difference does it make?"
Too often when pointing out an inaccuracy do we get a smart answer back immediately without any thought - we life in a world where to be exact is often laughed at or scorned.0
