in Credit cards
Alarmed to be written to by M&S BANK Customer Services director advising me that my wife--an additional M&S cardholder needs to send extra identification--she has had her card for years! The letter is sent to ME for action- the main cardholder. There are two enclosed seriously complex documents that need attention and enclosures prepared-not unlike a passport or visa application for foreign travel! The accompanying letter itself reads like something from a tax office.... We are not M&S Bank customers--just users of their credit cards
The entire correspondence strikes us as a waste of time if not a dramatic business self sabotage. Poor old Marks, already in trouble now look as tho' they are getting their own back by having a go at their customers.
It's done -according to the letter because "it's more difficult to keep you and your money protected from fraud and financial crime". It looks like a new initiative, but the inclusion of a formal unhelpful FAQ suggests otherwise.
Luckily we have not been connected with fraud with M&S-or any credit agency- and only occasionally use M&S credit cards. We have other cards from other providers and no such runaround occurs from them!
Since the best way of avoiding fraud is to destroy a credit card and cancel the account--that is exactly what we will now do--except first I will willingly pay off the very small amount due on our next payment before reaching for the scissors.
ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS STUPID LETTER?
