EE or not EE- that is the question!!!

My daughter has just bought a new phone (well, second hand but new to her) and wants to stay on her current Dolphin plan on Orange as well as keep her current phone number.

Her current phone takes a standard sim and the new one a micro sim. We were told that if she orders a micro sim, she can keep her number and any remaining credit but that the card will be an EE one, which she's not happy about.

Does anyone know if she'll continue on Orange Dolphin with an EE sim in the phone, or if it means she'll have to use an EE plan?

The phone is unlocked, so there's always the option of switching elsewhere, of course- but she really wanted to keep the 'reward' aspect that means she has credit available after her rewards are used up, giving her the option of not having to top up every month if she knows she won't use her phone much for a while, rather than a bundle.

Hope that makes sense!!!

They are doing away with Orange plans so by ordering a new SIM they can impose what conditions they like, unfortunately that means she will have to move. Whether it be to EE or elsewhere. Is it possible to cut the current SIM? We did this with my daughter's and it has been fine.
  • Hadn't thought of cutting the sim. Is that something that would need a trip to a phone shop to do, or a really careful session with scissors? :)

Try to find a little phone repair shop or market stall etc, where they have the tool to cut the SIM to micro in an instant.

The little machine to cut the sim looks like a stapler, you could buy one for £1.49 or try your local phone repair shop who might it do it free/small fee.

    This is the cutter:
