My husband fancies a nokia 6230 to replace his current nokia which has packed up. He currently is with o2 payg and spends roughly £10 a month. should he look for a contract or stay payg? Also is there anywhere I can get this model cheaper than £150.

    £149.99 lol here http://www.!!!!!!.com/display.asp?hs=6230

If he only spends £10 a month i don't see any point in getting a contract phone.

Unless you can get some free minutes and cashback to make it less than £10 a month.

Check out the above site, it searches all the latest deals for you.

    Good luck.

I had a quick look and found this http://www.!!!!!!.com/display.asp?hs=6230&tariff=o2xnet100

100 anytime xnet minutes and 100 texts a month for £25 a month, half price Linerental for 12 months, and for the first 3 months the minutes and texts are doubled.

This is a cashbacl deal but it does only work out at £12.50 per month.

    Good luck.

P.S. It's the same deal for the 6230i also.

    Hi

I would get the new 6230i it is much better, more memory, better camera. It looks just like the 6230 on the outside but much better on the inside!

I was also in the same boat. I'm on o2 online PAYG (300text) and generally only spent about £10 per month. I too wanted the 6230 but heard that the newer/(slightly) updated model 6230i was out. So using !!!!!!.com (mentioned by jf2404), I found mobileshop did the phone and contract for £150 for the whole year (inc cashback). The contract was on o2 and gave 100mins and 100texts per month (200mins and 200text for the first 3months because of a promotional offer). I couldn't resist it so ordered the phone (it arrived last week).

The way I see it is that this phone, with cashback, works out at £150 which is same price the the older 6230 on PAYG except i'm getting 100mins/text (200 for first 3 months) as well for the same price and a newer/updated model phone.

The only problem with cashback is that some companies don't like paying out because its paid out of their commission and try every trick in the book to avoid paying it. Having done some checking around I found the worse for paying cashback is onestopphoneshop but no one had reported difficulties with using mobileshop so I took a chance!

If you look at the link above, I chose the first tariff (currently the cheapest option) which was with mobileshop, and it was the tariff jf2404 was referring to.

    Hope this helps.

PS: I love the phone and not found any problems with it!
  • The Mobileshop deal is excellent and can be reduced to £120 for the year - the contract is £150 but sign up to https://www.quidco.com and they'll give you a further £30 back - so there's his tenner a month and a new Nokia 6230i.

I've posted twice in minutes about Quidco - I've never used them and have no association with them but they appear to be an excellent concept. I've used Rpoints and get moneyback but Quidco operate as a cooperative - so you get the full affiliate rebate.

Also, in addition to my last post, I still use my old o2 online PAYG simcard because of the 300texts if I ever go over my inclusive allowance. Which as its a double promotional offer for the first 3months then this isn't likely but after that it is possible. I'll probably put my contract simcard in another phone and use that for calls. I know it's a pain but it's cheapest option!

Beware, that cashback(redemption) is only to the airtime account (a credit on your mobile account) and not to your own bank account.

Also, that contract is meant to be £30 a month but is half price (which makes it £15) but if you look below the red 'Nokia 6230' sign it says its only £4.99 for 12 months. How did they get from half price (£15) to £4.99?
