Home assesment visit ?

Options
Sent my DLA to Pip form back at beginning of this month and today got a letter stating I was to receive a Home Assessment Visit from Atos at the end of this month , quite quick I thought !
My query is what do I expect on a home visit ?
My carer will be there so not going to be alone , would appreciate any guidance from folks who have had a home visit :)
Regards

Its the same as an assessment, only at home. My suggestion would be read the PIP descriptors and see how your condition(s) fit these, and then be able to demonstrate how you fit them. Always best to be prepared! And ask your carer to maybe do a little run through if you're anxious, they can always advocate for you if you are struggling to find the words (as most do when in that situation).

And don't worry about it - if you have provided evidence of your fitting the descriptors, and then you demonstrate it at your medical assessment, there's nothing to worry about.
  • Good advice from Dom. All I can add is to do as much preparation as you're able to. I found it quite tough as I don't retain information easily anymore, but it helped me feel a little less nervous for my PIP home assessment than I did for the office-based ESA assessment I had. In my familiar surroundings, I felt more able to remember the difficulties I come across every day and, hence, to describe them better, relating them to the descriptors.

I hope your assessment goes well, OP. Keep us posted.

I used to be Starrystarrynight on MSE, before a log in technical glitch!

Well I had my assessment and to be truthful it was very easy , the assessor was most helpful and made allowances for my condition which during the visit was quite bad ! the medical part was short & quick with most of the tasks beyond my capabilities , did tell me the " no further visits " box would be ticked on the report (? )
    So now we wait :)
Will update when I know the result !

Hopefully it'll be good news for you. I'm not sure what they meant by the "no further visits box" the maxium amount of award anyone can get with PIP is 10 years but this a rare. My conditions will never improve and the assessment provider stated this on both reports i've had in 2 years. This time my award was 3 years instead of 2. I would take anything they say with a pinch of salt. Until you get the decision anything is possible. Good luck hope it's good news soon.

Got my result letter and have been awarded Enhanced on both sections , Care & Mobility , marked as " For an ongoing period "
What a lovely Xmas this will now be as I can now relax about what the decision would be !

I had my assessment 2 weeks ago, and whilst the assessor didn't say the no visits box would be ticked, she did say she didn't think they would be seeing me again, when I queried it she said it was obvious I wasn't going to improve as I had no improvement in 30 years, deteriation but no improvement. No idea what it means as regards my claim, I will have to wait for the decision to find out.
  • The prospect of this visit has overshadowed Christmas such great timing.

Don't believe anything they say. It's not the decision to make. On my last 2 PIP reports it clearly states my condition will never improve, i'll only get worse. My award this time was for slightly longer than last time but still 3 years down the line i'll be reviewed. Probably need another assessment. The whole point of PIP is for people to be reviewed regularly. The max length of award for PIP is 10 years i believe. Good luck hope you don't have to wait too long for decision.
