I doubt you could do that, when they program the new key they will most likely remove the old key and add the new one so that the "lost" one would be useless. That is what they did when a friend of mine lost his car key and then found it again a week later.

I know this is an old thread guys but I wondered if any of you would know if it covers the central locking system as well? So, if your central locking system goes 'kapput' and you're using a standard car key in door lock to get into car?

If the engine on my car fails, will the RAC cover the first £1500 of repairs to the engine due to the fact that the engine is operated by the key??
