What Washing Did You Use for Newborn?

Out of interest, what washing liquid/gel/powder/tablets/capsules did you use?
The only suggestion I have seen is non-bio. But did you have an old fashioned name like Fairy? Or go with supermarkets own brand?
We use use Persil (bio) at the moment as find the aroma is nice and stays with clothes for longer than others (even Ariel). But we're looking to start a family next year so thought we'd make the switch now.

The NHS (website) has fairly recently stopped advising against bio detergents for babies as there really isn't any evidence to support it being better for skin, except in rare cases. Many countries don't even have non-bio available and their kids aren't all scaly! I'd just stick with what you know works well in your washing machine and change if you need to.0

My LO had skin issues so we switched to Surcare- very gentle on skin.0

3 of my 4 just had what we had, bio or not, one did develop senstive skin so we had to go non bio.
Even grown up she's still sensitive to lots of brands so we just stick to Fairy non bio liquid now.,Fully paid up member of the ignore button club.If it walks like a Duck, quacks like a Duck, it's a Duck.0 -
I just used my normal biological washing powder. In most countries they don't even sell non-bio washing powder, it is only in the UK that people think they are sensitive to it.

Some people have reactions to particular powders but this is just as likely to be one brand or perfume rather than bio in particular. If you do find that you are reacting to clothing, then try adding in an additional rinse cycle, this is most effective at avoiding irritations.0 -
I always washed my DD's clothes in Fairy non-bio and used comfort pure as a fabric conditioner. One day she came back from my mums with her face all red and inflamed - my poor mother was mortified. Then mum realised her friend had been nursing DD for a little while so she rang her to ask what washing powder she used - biological stuff. Some children are very sensitive to perfumes etc so I would never take the chance and would only use the mildest stuff available.0

Many countries don't have non-bio and reactions to biological detergents are overestimated when it's often a reaction to a particular ingredient in a particular brand rather than the enzymes. Therefore there is no longer official advice to move to non-biological detergents with a baby.
As washing machines now use a lot less water people are finding that if they use powder detergents the box tells them to use too much and it doesn't rinse away fully. Therefore I think using less powder or moving to liquid detergents is good advice but that's just opinion rather than official guidance.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0 -
I used Fairy Non-bio liquid or tabs but I use that anyway as my husband and I have sensitive skin. I also used napisan to disinfect but again, I do this anyway so not any change.0
