Barclays force me to accept illegal money

  • A bank doesn't actively do anything when recieving a payment. That is why the sender specifices the sort code and account number.

    I wouldn't worry too much about it, just do the best you can to ensure you are prepared when the money i taken back. If you have taken reasonable steps to identify where the money came from and return it to them then it isn't theft. Why don't you just pay it back to the company given you have clearly been in contact with them???
