Thomas Cook Flight to Goa

Hi we booked a flight to goa leaving on 4th December. My husband has been told he needs stents in his legs and it is urgent, so will have the operation on 6th December, and they are not sure when he will be able to fly. Thomas Cook has a policy of no refunds - what would you do, was thinking of rebooking a flight, but of course no idea when to do it, and if I would get the time of work (not at work at the moment). Any ideas? Thanks.

    Firstly, check your insurance.

Secondly, be clear what exactly is Thomas Cook's policy: are you saying that while they will not refund the air fare they will allow the money to be used to book for a different date? Ask if there is a deadline by which such a booking must be made.

I would make a claim off your travel insurance then reorganise the holiday once your husband is fit and able to travel again.
  • The OP asked this question on TA. She doesn't have any insurance.

The only thing you can do is to amend your flights to a different date by paying the amendment fees plus any difference in fare cost. If you can't fly on those amended dates you could then amend them again, but again that would involve amendment fees plus any difference in fare cost. Amendment fees are £50 per person per flight if you do the amendments online. Amendments can be done anytime up to 80 hours prior to departure.

    Oh dear!

Why do people book holidays, especially those to long haul destinations and not buy travel insurance? Madness.
