Morning one and all,
Woke up pretty early this morning and got organised so I've had my porridge and coffee and ready to seize the day. I read yesterday of how cutting your day up into segments helps productivity, so I'll be finished by 9.30 in doing my daily bits of admin such as this.
Yesterday I went to the gym after work and then had a healthy dinner and made my lunch for today. Unfortunately my GF and I broke up a couple of weeks ago and I saw her last night to hand some stuff back to here. Was really hard seeing her upset but it's for the best - for both of us. My mind was running in circles and I think I heard the news on my radio still at midnight so I'm surprised I'm not sluggish.
Tonight after work I'm playing football which will cost me £3 which will ruin my NSD unfortunately. I saw the MSE newsletter about Black Friday and I've never really bought into it before however I think I'll finish my Xmas shopping this weekend and December can be a bit less stressful.
AoD - At least being busy is a good sign and the day goes in faster.
TA - Good luck at the docs0 -
I'm back from taking DH to the hospital, just waiting for him to ring to tell me an approximate time for his op. Last time they told him it would be at least a 9hr wait before he went down, just to have it cancelled after waiting 7 hours!
I want to clean all the bathrooms this morning (that sounds very grand but isn't, we have a family bathroom, en-suite and a shower room downstairs that we had put in thinking mum would be coming to live with us).
Hilstep, I'm orry you're not feeling so good. Jackie, ouch. RR hope Evie's better soon.0 -
Just popping back in to say hope that OH's goes ahead and all is well Snoozer
Hugs to Speky break-ups are sad, even if you know that ultimately it's the right decision.0 -
Speky ,sorry to hear of your break-up but its survivable just sad .
Try to focus on your lifestle ,sound as though healthy eating is helping and your pals at football or the gym will help as well
When my eldest DGS split with his long time G/F he was devastated and on my doorstep with tears running down his face bless him. They had been together since 14 and right out of the blue she just binned him and even now 7 years later he still doesn't know why, but he met another lass and is very happy with her, and they are getting married on Christmas Eve this year. His first G/F has still not settled down and sems to flit between chaps (she is a local girl)
Danny is so happy now though and I am so pleased he has found 'The One '
As my old Mum would say (another Weedgie) 'What's for you will no' go by you' <Have a virtual hug > xx 0 -
Morning All
Blimey JackieO - after all of that work on your CH it should run beautifully. We had to have a new pump about 2 years ago, and we had a couple of silted-up radiators, so elected to have the system power flushed this year. Can't believe the difference - so good. Yes - ouch to the expense - but worth it. We are saving for a new fancy insulated front door (our porch is absolutely freezing) - every time we get close, something goes bang (sometimes quite literally) lol Last time we ended up shelling out for a new fusebox unit for the house (ours was wood and bakelite - the engineer was fascinated) :rotfl: Good to know you'll have better service from stairlift folks than you did from CORGI - go easy OK? You've had quite the week already!
Hope you're doing well today Hilstep x
SpekySquarehead - sorry to hear about your break-up and hope you find a quieter mind soon
Hope everyone else on the merry-go-round (people do seem to be going through it at the mo) finds solid ground and peace. Sending hugs/positivity and xxxxx's to all who want them.
To those in a dark place, keep going - you can do this xx. Candles lit for anyone who could do with some light (Jasmine again, to bring a bit of summer back).
Have a beautiful Wednesday and take care all xx2022 | Back to the fold - need a Money Saving mojo reboot!

Yay I have heating again and hot water and the plumber bless him even hoovered the top landing for me as he had to clamber around the loft for something :)feeling a bit brighter ,if a bit poorer:).
He will return within a couple of weeks to power-flush the system through out.Seemed a nice young chap and was very apologetic about me having to fork out fo it at this time of the year.
He did say I could leave the power flush until the New Year but I know plumbers are like gold dust in January and I want to make sure I don't have any problems when the weather turns really cold.
To cap it all the weather has brightened up a bit and the sun is out so that always cheers me up a bit
:):)
Onwards and upwards chums, thank goodness for having a little bit tucked away for emergencies and break downs

Morning all,
Hilstep,I'm really sorry to hear you've been so poorly recently, love & hugs to you xxx
RR-poor Evie hope the ABs kick in soon.Lyla is a terrible patient if she's not feeling 100% and barks in the middle of the night to share her discomfort
Speky, sorry to hear of your break up,hard even if you know somethings not right. Both our sons came to live back at home after relationships broke up,and DS2 has 2 young children so we get them part time too.Although sometimes I think DS are a little too comfortable at home......:D I hope you keep busy and occupied, thats best.
Not sure whats for tea,but there isnt a great deal of meat left now in the freezer, plenty of hm soups, and veg. so may call at the butchers I've been after trying.
DH & DS2 finished a job yesterday with nothing much in the pipeline now until after Christmas, a lot of people don't want to have jobs done & mess in their houses in the run up
so its always a belt tightening time anyway when youre self employed builders, round here anyway not sure about other parts of the country.Perhaps he'll do some of the outstanding jobs here :rotfl:.I really want the cellar finishing off then I can have a pantry cupboard/shelf but he won't do more work down there till they've finished the road/culvert repairs and the risk of more flooding has abated.
I want to get the childrens pressies bought soon then I know I'm sorted,& 1 niece and 1 GC each for my two brothers-we only buy for the children these days, and I've pretty much culled everyone else from my list.At least DH can come with me ,though he hates it.
I made a few CCards yesterday once DGC had gone, nice and relaxing after a hectic day so might get chance to do some more, though with the price of stamps thats something else I might be culling
I have all the stuff in for the cards anyway, stuff built up over the years, even after DGDs raids on my paper stash :rotfl:
Snoozer - glad you got your trouble sorted out. DNiece sent me some photos of herself sat at her new sewing machine-looked like she was enjoying herself practising,I'm pleased about that
Ok better run the hoover round after the GCs visit.Take care all xxSave:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Feeling slightly more human than I did yesterday thankfully - I must pace myself today though, so as to be on at least reasonable form for Cassie Dog's arrival tomorrow, for her holiday.
I will, however, do some distance healing for Evie; poor lass. Coming so soon after her scare, that's really unfortunate for her.
Speky sorry to hear of your break-up. It's never easy, but as you say, it's for the best in the long run.
JackieO I'd say get the power flush done out of the way; it'll have to be done sooner or later, so might as well get it dealt with asap.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Brilliant news JackieO and great that you had such a pleasant plumber. He probably went into your loft to see if you had a header tank - they can usually gauge how gunged up your system is by looking at the contents (if you have one). Despite putting anti-gunge into ours last time we had to drain it - it still looked like Guinness (he took a photo on his mobile - ours lives in the top of the airing cupboard in the bathroom). Hope you got your stairlift sorted. Great to hear good things after all that nonsense the other day xx2022 | Back to the fold - need a Money Saving mojo reboot!

Had a busy day yesterday, enrolling for U3A and then getting my hair cut and styled in York.
Today will be spent quietly making a large cottage pie and sweet potato and carrot soup. Also making soup with broccoli, cauliflower
and peas for later.
Three deliveries so far which will need to be sorted out and wrapped and dishwasher emptied and loaded up and kitchen tidied.
Weigh in should be tonight but I don't want to be out in the dark so will go tomorrow morning instead.
Speky
I am sorry about the break up and look after yourself pet.
