O/S Daily Wednesday 16th November 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark here, but damp underfoot but mild.
DH has gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner last night was disjointed due to DH being late home, he organised food for himself en route as it was too late for him to eat anything big so late. Boys and myself had fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I also was reasonably organised and got the quorn base made for tonight's dinner - it will become either spag bol, lasagne or shepherds pie, I'm thinking possibly lasagne, and I'll do some HM wedges and salad to go with it, so I'll just need to make the white sauce and assemble it and get it in the oven when I come in tonight.
Work yesterday was another strange one at times manic, others dead, the weather was strange too, one minute raining, then looked brighter and drier then grey dull dark cloud. Last day at work for me today - as I'm going to be on annual leave next week - so really looking forward to that, we've got lots planned for this time, we're away twice, so I'm looking forward to it. Working all day as doing the extra hours, it's payday also whilst I'm off, but on the last day so it's good in the respect that I won't spend all the money whilst off then struggle for the rest of the month!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all, ive not been outside so all I know is that it is dark.
Another busy day awaits, then Thursday will be equally busy and that will be my working week done. I love my work but when I'm busy, I'm really busy but that's the way it goes. I'd hate having too little to do, I don't do well twiddling my thumbs.
I must get ready and head out, hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Good morning,
An early wake up time again, around 5 and could not get back to sleep again. It balances out with the good night sleep I had yesterday.
This morning I have a hospital appointment at the hip clinic. I was warned by my friend who's been through all this to bring a book, snacks and drinks as it takes ages, so will have my little tea flask and snacks of dried fruit and nuts and the book I am currently reading.
Later in the afternoon I might go to a yoga class, but not sure yet, depending on how I feel when I get back from hospital.
Hugs to all who needs them xx
Have a good day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning All
Very wet here, may need an Ark! No washing to do and no DW to empty, that left the building yesterday, someone came to pick it up about an hour after I disconnected it.
Ended up washing up in the bath as the seal on the plumbing under the sink needs to dry properly, should be able to use the sink tonight.
Had the flu jag yesterday, no effects apart from a sore arm, it woke me every time I turned over in bed.
Hugs to all, hope you enjoy your day. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks. It looks a bit grim outside, as much as I can see anyway! Rain on the windows and the wind howling. Lovely!
We had a nice day out yesterday. Decided on a bus ride to Otley and very pleasant it was with blue sky and sunshine. A tour of the cs produced a lovely jumper in St Gemma's where everything is 99p! I thought the assistant was going to snatch it off me, she couldn't believe she hadn't spotted it first! Also got the Christening gift - a cute little outfit. Rounded the day off with a "free" steak lunch in Spoons thanks to the gift card!
This morning I have a medication review with my GP. I always dread going in case they find something else wrong with me. Whilst over that side of town I am going to pop in TKMaxx and try and get back to my Xmas present list that hasn't been looked at since it was started on in January in the Boots 70% off sale! It's ridiculous the number of people I have to buy for, before even starting on immediate family!
Back to childminding today after last week off! All 3 DGDs are here for tea and sleepover, ready for the school run tomorrow. Yet to christen tea so will have a freezer delve shortly. It's the usual "arrival in stages" after dancing, Rainbows etc so needs to be something that keeps warm or warms up as they all arrive "starving"!
Have a nice day and (((HUGS))) as always to the poorlies and worried. Thinking of HILSTEP who is always so brave. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Too dark here to see what the weather is doing but yesterday afternoon turned out to be very mild I think we were up to 16 degrees at one point !
Evie has got kennel cough we took her to the vets yesterday poor little mite its pitiful to hear her she is on antibiotics which will hopefully start to kick in soon.
Work for me today and OH has to run Evie back in for a temp check after work so I shall get dinner ready maybe meatballs will go and look in the freezer after this.
Have good days all xx
Hilstep hope you are ok sending gentle hugs xx0 -
Morning, happy hump day
thanks for the thread nmlc and enjoy your holiday x
It's a bit drizzly outside which means my lovely blowed dried and straightened hair will be a frizzy ball by the time I get to the station - did it last night as no time in the morning, ho hum.
A few computer issues at work yesterday just trying to set my account up correctly. The IT guys are lovely though and given who I'm working for, tend to jump when asked (every cloud).
Managed to get home for 6pm yesterday due to taking a shorter lunch and getting in 10 mins early - loving the flexitime. DD cooked a curry (jar of sauce, but still made it all herself) and tonight DS2 will do a tuna pasta bake. It's slow cooker day tomorrow, so I will get some pork steaks out before I go to work as will prep it tonight.
Hugs to Hilstep - lovely to see you posting xx
Hope everyone has a great day x

Morning all.
The rain battered down all night, the noise woke me at 3.40am. Now all I can hear is the wind howling. Yesterday was a lovely day, mild and dry, knew it couldn't last.
The power cord for my notebook died yesterday so I'm having to use the big laptop today. I've ordered a new power cord which is promised for today, let's hope so. My foldable desk is a success so I'm really pleased with it, I could sit properly and work.
Fridge still got enough in it. I was planning on going down to Glasgow after class tomorrow but the weather forecast is for horrendous rain so that may well change, in which case I can do a small shop tomorrow.
JackieO - did the engineer leave you with heating and hot water yesterday!
I hope everyone has a good Wednesday.0 -
Good Morning chums well the plumber bless him did what he could as the problem is sludge in the system .he is returning this morning to fit a new pump as it is on its way out but sadly because its been caused by a build up in the system its not covered for by the insurance so I not only have to pay for a new pump £226.00 but I will need the whole system to be drained down and several power washes flushed through it another £600.00.
Not the best news to get the month before Christmas which includes apart from Christmas not only four family birthdays (one of which is my DGS 21st) plus my eldest DGS wedding on Christmas Eve !!.
Good job I have a bit put by for my rainy day fund ,Looks like its going to be pretty damp in December so the belt will be tightened another notch or three.
Definitely as few days out anywhere near the shops as possible as well My freezer will be good as I am eating it down to defrost anyway.
Ho Hum its one of those times when it never rains but it pours
:) good job I have a sense of humour I guess.
Heating is one thing I really can't do without because of my joints which just won't work in the cold at all.
Then today I discovered this morning that I will have to get the stairlift chap in as my chair won't turn at the top of the stairs, luckily that won't cost me as it is definitely covered by my separate insurance for all call outs and repairs, just got to dig out the phone number this morning. Still life could be a lot worse as for many folk it is, and like all things, it will pass.
Hope folk are having a bit better week than I am at the moment I am waiting for the third thing to go wrong as it always seems to come in threes doesn't it
Lainey I hope your DM is pain free and you can have precious time with her and your cold has cleared up.
Coxy11 glad that all went well with your new job
Right time for a cuppa before the plumber arrives
Take care everyone and keep warm and dry its looking a bit grey and wet outside at the moment
Cheers chums

Morning everyone,
Windy but clear here, it was so mild in the night and I kicked off most of the covers. When I went over to see Bill yesterday he had been left in his rug and was sweating underneath, it's so mild at the moment, feels weird!
Car is all sorted and will be picked up in Monday as have a busy few days ahead. Today I need to go into town for a few bits and then on to DB's as the hospice nurse is coming to see Mum for general check-up. Tomorrow will be over there all day, my DB has a couple of days off and is going to take my SIL out for the day, she has been a real brick and I am more than happy to look after Mum while she has a break.
Poor little Evie RR hope the AB's kick in soon.
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x
Edited to say ouch JACKIEO, that is not good, thank heavens for your savings being prepped! x0 -
Morning all
The sun is shining but for how long i am not sure its still quite mild here in Essex but i think thats on the change in the next few days
Ruby when one of our dogs caught kennel cough out vet said to give them Benelyn cough mixture to soothe their throat might be worth an ask
Woke up several times in the night as i think there may have been a gas leak further down the road as they were digging the pavements up
Not much to do here might wash the floors and prep dinner early its toad in the hole tonight
Hugs to all those who need them and have a great day whatever you are up to0
