installing a new Gas Boiler

Cutting a long story short here, but I have had a rogue builder who has done a lot of bad work in the house. My question is this.. he fitted a new gas boiler and is not Gas Registered... am I right in believing that this is illegal even if he says that he was going to get it checked out by a gas registered person at a later date?
Thanks in advance for any reply that may help.

You are correct.
Anyone can install a gas device, but it must be inspected and formally approved by a gas safe registered fitter before use.0 -
Shaky ground really.
Technically a non-registered person can't install the flue, any of the gas pipe etc as it even with an accredited engineer coming out to connect and commission it they aren't always able to visually inspect everything
They say with gas pipework that even if its not tied-in to the gas supply, the pipe is still intended to be used as a gas pipe and hence, can only be installed by a qualified engineer.0 -
By law, all gas engineers must be on the Gas Safe Register. Gas Safe Register has replaced CORGI as the gas registration body.Love combi boilers!0
