T-Mobile SIM working in unlocked N70 but not in unlocked N91 - Help Please

Hello,

I would appreciate any advice on this. I was using my T-Mopbile contract SIM with my unlocked Nokia N70 and it was fine. I accidentally left my phone at a friends, and to get cheaper calls has been using a local SIM instead of T-Mobile.

Now I'm home and have the SIM and tried to use it in the unlocked N91 I have here, but it won't accept the card. It starts up OK, but then after the startup screen appears I get a message saying "Please Insert SIM Card". I have used this phone with O2, Vodafone, a global SIM etc with no problems so am confused as to why T-Mobile won't work.

I desperately need this phone to work until I get my N70 posted back to me, any advice on fixing this issue would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hussein.

Hi, I have the strangest luck or maybe it's some higher power playing games. I was about to just format the N91 and re-install the firmware and basically start with the phone from scratch, after trying the T-Mobile SIM at least ten times with no success. Then at the last moment I thought I'd give it one more go and what do you know? It worked and is still working 24 hours later.

Sheesh, this happens all the time. There are places all over the net where I've posted my 'final plea' for help with different things only to find the solution myself moments later, often before people even replied.

Oh well, thanks to anyone that was going to help, but it's sorted now.

  • didn't see this before but would have said dirty contacts on the SIM or in the phone... it was telling you it couldn't see a SIM at all... not that T-mobile was unacceptable to it.
The thanks button is here to the right. If you find a post saves you money, gives you useful information, or you agree with it, take a second to thank the poster! :)

Possible, my global SIM did the same thing for a few days when I went abroad. But good to know what the 'error' actually means.

  • It means that the phone thinks there is no SIM card inserted, as above, dirty contacts on the sim or phone will be most likely culprits :)
