Hello,I am new to money saving and trying to make changes. Have been reading the old style forums and feel comfortable there, but pretty sure can have bigger impact by reducing direct debits. We never switch... Sorry. Think bt is probably the worst so need to start there.
Am paying 65/month to cover line rental, a call package and fibre broadband.
I hate bt but have never changed due to inertia and fact having to change means having to deal with them. I don't know if I am tied to a contract. Bill unhelpful.
Would appreciate any advice -have looked at guides but they separate phone and broadband, which in my old style head are together.
Also I would like to not have to tell bt I'm going / don't want to deal with them- I think some utility switching websites they do it for you,but this is not mentioned in the guide.
Thanks for any help, sorry for my crimes against money saving ...

The company you are changing too will do all the switching for you.

You can switch phone and broadband by applying online to a new provider. It would be best to ring and check you're not still in any minimum term, unless you can check from previous correspondence (eg to get free BT Privacy you need to sign up to a new 12 month term).
Broadband deals are at http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/phones/cheap-broadband
Plusnet seems to be the cheapest fibre of you if you're looking to keep fibre. There's a referral forum here to help other MSE'ers and you still get the same deal https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2404513
BT does own Plusnet but they are run separately eg BT has call centres off shore whereas Plusnet's are UK based.
You could also wait 10 days to see what Black Friday deals come out, but no guarantees obviously.0 -
