Did you unlock the phone?, I think it must be unlocked to make a payment over £30. I don't know exactly how the limit is set but I've done a payment just under £80 using Android Pay in EuroCarParts.

I normally unlock it as I've previously tried to make a payment 'locked' and it hasn't worked. If I've ever tried a payment while 'locked' and it fails I'll try again 'unlocked'.
  • They don't have contactless.

    Paid with credit card.

The garage has now phoned to say the car is ready for collection tomorrow. I did ask about paying contactless and he said they had the facility.
    They don't have contactless.

You can but hope that they know more about cars than about the payment methods they accept!
  • Just paid my £20 road tax at the PostOffice but its PIN only! Damn Government. So used my Co op card, 5p return:)

Also paid TV license at PayPoint shop but fell at the first hurdle as she didn't know if she could break the amount up and looked stressed so I just paid by credit card again.

    One can but try!

You didn't think to break the road tax into 30 payments to get your £1.50?;)

My understanding has always been that you can split a purchase of multiple items into lots of up to £30 value but that a single item must be paid for in one transaction, though part of that can be by card after making a partial cash payment. eg £45 item: pay £15 cash and £30 by card.

I would be very surprised to find small businesses with contactless technology. THe only companies that I know offer it are chains like supermarkets, Greggs, Boots etc.
  • My local country pet food supplier splits my payments into lots of £30 without me asking nowadays. I'll need to retrain her in January lol.

They do exist though. Our local fish & chip shop and family butcher both accept contactless.
  • I thought they would only accept Chips and Pin.

Thank you. I'm here all week. :)
