    Well I intend to clear it with the surveyor as I made clear above, thanks to the good advice of the people in this thread.

    And I wouldn't be making a profit, I'd be mitigating a loss.

    As others have said, you are only selling the report. The buyer doesn't get any liability from the surveyor with it. After we had sold the report to the buyers, they then had a mortgage valuation on the property. So needing a mortgage wouldn't be a barrier to buying a report. They did comment that it had cost them more overall than if they had secured a survey in the normal way, but time wasn't on their side.

    No the op is selling a report. The surveyor was already paid for their time.

    We also bought a survey- but from the surveyor.

    It turned out he had not looked at one particular wall in the original survey, and our mortgage company wanted it looked at. So even though it was his mistake, we had to pay him AGAIN to look at the wall.
