Offered broadband cancellation - can I wait until later?

I recently moved into a new flat for a 12 month lease, when I will be moving out. I took a Plusnet 18-month fibre package, which I'm fine with, as even with cancellation fees it still works out cheapest for what I need.
The speed I'm currently getting is less than I was advertised, but is due to the distance from the cabinet, so I know there's nothing that can be done (Virgin don't cable my street), and I'm happy enough anyway. After complaining to Plusnet, they have told me that I am entitled to cancel my service without penalty, or they may be prepared to offer a discount.
Now, my question is: this entitlement to cancel, does it have a deadline? I.e., could I wait until I'm moving and want to cancel anyway, and use this as an excuse to avoid the cancellation fees, or would I have to cancel soon to still be eligible? Is there anything I need to say or avoid saying if I contact them?

Plusnet are the only ones who can tell you that.
You could go down the route of "thanks for the offer, it's something I'll consider whilst I decide if the money I'm paying is worth the current speed I'm getting" and ask them if there's a deadline. I suspect there won't be.0
