A TV program yesterday evening included a report of people sleeping in sheds / garages.
If you were aware of one of your neighbours renting out a shed or garage for this purpose, would you report it to the authorities?

Why are you asking? Is there something going on in my neighbour's garden that you know but I don't?0
-
Definitely. There needs to be a serious crackdown on "bed in sheds" because of the burden it places on the surrounding area (additional sewerage leading to backing-up and flooding in old sewers), because the landlords are making profit when they shouldn't, because it invalidates insurance (imagine if someone cooking in one of these sheds sets fire to your neighbouring garage) and because the conditions are often inadequate for the people living there. And it would make it harder to sell your house.0

I wouldn't live near neighbours who'd be so inclined....
And if i did, i'd be having a word myself....0 -
The only worry would be person (or family) had no where else to go and were paying nothing, you report them and they get put on the street.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

Thing is, round here, they're being charged full market rents for said sheds, so they're being ripped off and put in danger.0 -

Who is they?
By whom?
Rough location?
"They" = the tenants, often foreign and therefore not aware of their rights as tenants.
"Whom" = the illegal landlords who've flouted planning permission by converting the sheds / gangmasters maximising occupancy.
"Location" = any UK city with a shortage of lower-end of the market rental properties and sometimes with planning officers who don't scrutinise projects during construction and therefore don't know what's inside.0 -
