Anyone else had their Barclaycards cancelled today?

Took two separate call from Barclaycard fraud department today, one for each of the cards I have on separate accounts. Told me they were cancelling them because a website I've made purchases on using both cards has had a security breach. Wouldn't tell me the name of the retailer but agent said 'hundreds' of cards are affected.

Anyone else had this today?

    No.
Do you mean that they are going to reissue the cards with new numbers or have cancelled your accounts?

Im guessing the former - standard fraud prevention. It would be good to knlw which site so it can be avoided! Of you call up OP they may well tell you, I was told which site my card had been used on fraudulently although o guess thats a bit different...

As m4rc says, this is really about the website that has had the security breach not Barclaycard, although it may be that they are the only issuer going as far as cancelling cards that have been used on this site. It would be much more helpful for the OP to share what the site is.

They won't always tell you where the breach is. My current account card was flagged to their fraud team as apparently they had been notified by police that it was in a batch of details that had been found/intercepted/whatever and was possibly compromised.

A little inconvenient when I was in Florida!

However the lady explained to me they don't always get told where the flag has come from. Yes sometimes they will know, but if it's been flagged by say the police then they will not tell them in case it interferes with an investigation.
