Switched broadband supplier but BT still charging me for TV

Hi All,
Just checking here to see if I have a leg to stand on,
Rang BT around the time my contract was up for renewal to inform them I wanted to cancel. I had Broadband and some additional element of BT sport with them. They told me I dont need to cancel with BT as such, just setup my new Broadband contract and everything will switch automatically... sounded good..
Took my eye of the ball and switched as normal and have now noticed they are still charging for the additional BT Sport element. I plan to ring up and cancel this bit ASAP but do I have any chance of recovering the few months I've been paying for it whilst under the assumption it would have been cancelled seen as though I was billed together with the broadband?
Or is it a case of 3 months money up the river....
Thanks in advance,
