This product is suitable for BOTH xp235 & xp247. Does this mean that ANY compatible xp235 cartridge can be used in xp247????? Googled to no avail. And....the xp235's are a lot cheaper! Any idea good folk?

If you had looked on the Epson site you would have found that
Epson quote the same number C13T29864010 for the pack of inks for both models.
  • Thanks for that! The online sellers seem to be crafty as you can buy the xp235 at 1/2 the price of the xp247!!!! I was reading somewhere about 'firmware' upgrades affecting ability to use compatible cartridges in the xp247....does anyone know anything about this?

    Aerostar....so just to clarify-the cartridge size & ink is IDENTICAL for xp235 & xp247?

If they were different then Epson ink packs would have different part numbers.
  • The people I use show that the cartridges are the same type and price.

Just about to try some compatibles from ebay for my Epson xp-322 printer, its one of those printers that is Wi-Fi and got the little LCD screen. Got to collect them first from click and collect at Argos.

Any tips as to how to get past the non compatible or not recognised message?

I have tried to disable any firmware update such as Epson monitor starting with computer, but whether successful or not I don't know.
Is it better to try to install a whole set as currently it says only black needs replacing?

Would it be advisible to switch internet such as Router off before installing the cartridges?

    Thanks
  • Thanks guys! In relation to installing compatible cartridges just give em a good shake & check the chip on bottom is clean-can't hurt to give it a wipe. On my system it just says 'you are using non-compatible inks which could damage your printer (or words to that effect)-just click continue & all should be fine. My DX3850 is oldish so don't know if its affected by firmware/driver updates...but I have a new one-xp-247 (bargain-get code for xp-235 online-order click & collect-pay at till as online says £34-99-its £29.99-they sub the better spec xp-247 for the xp235)-maybe I'll try & stop driver/firmware updates on this-any kind people know how to do this? Prior to ordering for the xp-247 I always mail the supplier to make sure the chip is up to date etc. Not sure if disconnecting from the web would make any difference-I'm sure some experts can advise?
  • Update! Xp247 set up, normal 4 set of Epson cartridges around £30, compatible for xp235 which as discussed earlier are the SAME cartridge, a tenner with free delivery or click and collect fro eBay.

Funnily enough, if you Google 'Epson xp247 compatible ink cartridge' the cheapest that appears is around £22!!! I think some extra money is being made somewhere lol!

Also, I got no ' you are not using compatible ink, this may damagy your printer' message! On set up I did however disable the software/firmware update option to 'futureproof' against any updates making the compatibles unable to function, but will keep the empty original Epson cartridges that came with the printer to pop back in just in case it needs repairing during the guarantee period!
