Like HD ready which meant the tv could receive hd transmissions but would not show in hd quality.Blackbeard_of_Perranporth wrote: »And to think we had High Definition tv way back in 1936!
405 Lines! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/405-line_television_system
Exactly as the 2nd poster said, even the Sega Mega Drives case had "high definition graphics" on it, as the term changes over the time and reading old 80s computer magazines monitors were marketed as "high resolution/definition" it was only used for mainstream tvs about 8-10 years ago as joe public doesn't know and just believes what they have been told.
Even now you can get 1080p screens with far better panels and picture quality than a 4k screen but consumers will just look at the fact its 4k and assume its better.
I mean logically what would you think is better quality? a 4k from a cheap nasty manufacturer brand, or a well known brand (though even then something like Sony won't be the best quality but still far better than a cheap brand)0
