Print at home fee.

Booked some tickets last night for Ross Noble tour. You can choose to pick up the tickets at the venue or print them at home. There is a £2.50 fee for for this. I understand the booking fee is there to cover costs (credit card ect). But I don't see how they can charge me for using my own ink and paper.

This does sound odd. Usually there's a booking fee which is the agent's profit. Is this £2.50 on top of the booking fee or instead of?0

The booking fee was separate, £6 I think. The £2.50 was just for printing tickets.Come on you Irons0

I've seen this occasionally too, I must make a note in future who does this and avoid them.0

In three words... "because they can".
The sooner event ticket vendors have to disclose all extras built into the fee upfront like airlines do, the better.0 -

To be fair, but the cost for "venue collection" is also £2.50, so maybe you should view it is more the cost for them to create the ticket (http://www.eventim.co.uk/)
Looking on ticketmaster the stalls seats are going for £32.35 all in (collection only, £2.50 fee). The above site is £33.50 (collection or delivery, both £2.50). PLUS, the way I found it means that some git got an affiliate sign up from me (had I purchased through eventim). Done the same event too, 17th Nove 20:00 in London.
So eventim seems to be £1.15 more expensive than ticketmaster! TM have the tickets at a higher face value but no booking fee, whilst eventim have a £3.75 one!
So I think your only beef should actually be with that £3.75 charge! Why are they charging £1.15 more than another site?
Also assumes you purchased through eventim, but that's the first thing which came up!0 -
Its like some cinema charge you a fee to book online, yet its free to turn up and use their staff member, who they have to pay wages to book it in person.
Of course I usually use the online seat picker to see if its busy and if not abandon the booking and just pay on the door.0 -
Is it any different to downloadable books for my Kindle being priced the same as the equivalent hard backed version (including delivery) ?

Kindle/mp3s version of physical things are different, they're more convenient, so they can charge more. Nothing's convenient about having to print your own tickets is there? Unless you're a tout wanting to sell it on... then you deserve to pay more!
I think it's just a stupid money making thing to charge for print at home.
I try to book elsewhere than ticketmaster as their fees are crazier than most others. Seetickets is usually what I go to for gig tickets, it's usually cheaper.0
