In fairness, if what you want is a bunch of penny sweets, JL aren't the first place to look ;-)0

What I find remarkable about JL is that they charge £2 for Click & Collect. Have they not realised that many other shops do C & C for free, because done properly it costs virtually nothing to provide?0

That's misleading. C&C is free for orders over £30 if you collect from a JL or Waitrose store.
Not sure why you think it costs virtually nothing to provide. They don't just bung it on top of the pallets that are coming into a store. C&C is normally sent via courier which is why they are only available for collection after 2pm.
If they did place it with normal goods then you would have days when the number of C&C orders exceed the available weight or size and normal goods would have to be taken off. That double handling costs and not having goods on the shelves means lost custom. The man without a signature.0 -

Have JL dispensed with stockrooms, then? Perhaps that would explain it? Otherwise it all looks very strange.0 -

Cornucopia wrote: »That seems like an odd way to do it. Most retailers who offer a Click & Collect service do so from shop stock. Some retailers add to this an option to have things ordered in, but only on their normal delivery cycle. Hence it costs them very little to provide..
Do they? Debenhams, House of Fraser, Boots, Tesco, Next, M&S all offer next day click and collect, and none do it from store stock. Can you elaborate on the "most retailers" that do it from store stock?0 -
I think we've now establshed that it's a sector thing.
So my retailers are: Currys/PC World, Screwfix, B&Q, Argos, Toolstation, Homebase.
Wilkinson follows the delivery to store model, but it is free, as is Tesco.0 -
Tesco Direct also charge if the order is under a certain amount.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”
