If you check Monday morning from 9.00 onwards I would expect in my experience the money to have arrived.

I am experiencing very long delays for payments from M&S to Santander today. It could be due to some new rules in the HSBC group of banks? They have form making it difficult for people to use their own money.

As I am still within the "by the end of the next business day" timeframe, I can't file a complaint yet.

    Not happy!!!

EDIT: money arrived after nearly 2 hours. Still very fast compared with how long it took a few years ago, I suppose. Happy-er now.

First Direct are terrible (or good) for this, I was left standing outside a house for an hour arguing with FD to get them to release the 5k I had sent someone to pay for a car. Eventually, instead of releasing the 5k, they put the money back into my account and made me go to an ATM where I managed to withdraw the whole 5K in £20 notes... not fun when the machine would only spit out £200 a time!

Amazing never heard of an ATM allowing 5k withdrawal, most accounts have a daily withdrawal limit, of around £300 - £500.

The ATM part of your post is completely untrue, so I imagine the rest is equally nonsensical.

All because he didn't want cash.
I expect he didn't want similar hassle to what you have experienced by trying to pay in £10K in cash.
