My avatar is there but doesn't show on threads?

When I signed up for the site, I was given the Union Jack profile picture although on threads it just comes up at the blue silhouette. So I changed it to a red phone box, another default photo and again I just have the blue man.
How can I get rid of this and show the actual photo?
