following measurements 235/75 or 80/R15. thanks in advance. we are based middlesex/london/surrey borders. ideally balancing and valve all inclusive would be great. might be too locally specific but thought worth a try!

www.mytyres.co.uk , have them dropped off at your home and take them to a local tyre place to get them fitted. Yeah it's a bit of hassle but it saved me £100 for four tyres over Nationals price and they couldn't even get them because they were on back order.

In true MSE, get a price from mytyres, look at the fitting station option then go to that tyre shop and ask them for there best price .. If they can do it for X through mytyres they can do it for less ;-) on another note I recommend federals especialy if you have alloys as they have "Rim protection"
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

  • If you have bought a couple of tyres from a breakers will the tyre places fit them or do you have to buy the tyres from them first ?
  • Black Circles, eTyres & mytyres. I used mytyres once and their fitting agent was able to undercut them next time.

Also, if possible, try the usual suspects (National and even KwikFit) at the end of the month - the managers might be getting desperate to meet their targets.

Most of the tyres from breakers are still on the rims (at least round here anyway) meaning once you've checked them over you can just swap them over yourself

as long as they are safe yes, safe being no blebbing / cracking and above legal tred limit. Id personnaly get new tyres as there the only thing between you and the rooad which could be the differance between you hitting a wall / hedge / tree. at around £40 a new tyre is it worth the risk ?

possibly, there is all sorts calculations you can do to work out what types your car can take but as someone else has pointed out you can get new tyres fitted for £35-40 while breakers are charging £20-25, hardly worth the hassle to save a tenner, especially if you havent changed the tyre recently.

i recently took the tyres off to check my breaks and i had to stand on a 24" breaker bar to loosen them !!!!!!, air wrenches that garages can seriously whack on the wheel bolts these days.

I hate that but i found a £3 fix, those extendable socket wrenches from tesco / adsa / halfrauds etc there a god send and dam strong to when you jump on them. Same theory was a breaker bar but cheaper.
