I understand that the basic firestick is HD compatible and has 8Gb memory ?
How much will 8Gb store ?

The memory is just used for Games, apps, maybe photos if you download them using google drive.

you can get the apps for Youtube, Netflix, BBC Iplayer, ITV Hub, All4 and more as well as being able to play games, view your photos etc.

Our Panasonic tv (bought last year) does all of these, except offer games and it also has the Amazon app..

How's that relevant to the OP, unless you want him to go out and buy a brand new Smart TV rather than spend a few quid on a more flexible smart device. Also, I bet some of those apps on the TV are not as fully functioning as the standalone ones you can download to the Amazon Fire, can you access multiple profiles on Netflix, for example.

The basic Amazon Fire Stick with no extra apps installed has 5.57Gb free.
On my stick with the Amazon apps and also Kodi installed with a good tight quality selection of kodi add ons and also with the Mobdro app also installed I have 3.9 GB left free.

Remember the Amazon fire stick is a streaming device so you would not normally download any films etc to it. I also find that doing regular maintenance such as clearing the cache etc prevents clutter eating up the remaining storage and therefore keeps the stick running smoothly. For example on the Kodi side of things I regularly use the Raw Maintenance add on to keep on top of things.

On the amazon side there is the ability to clear the cache of each application individually.

The Amazon Fire Stick is a great easy device to use provided you have good broadband and wifi connection.

You say you have Sky, why not use that to watch Top Gear on BBC?

What's Jeremy Clarkson got to do with it?
Top Gear is a BBC programme, which is what the op referred to.

the top gear presenters quit and are doing a program on amazon , this will not be available to non amazon users

when the OP stated amazon and top gear in the same sentence , it was obvious that they do not want the "new" flop gear on the BBC , and that they want to watch the new show <whatever it is called> on amazon
