Sky + Firestick

We have Sky (a basic HD package) but are considering adding Amazon Fire TVstick to our armoury (particularly for Top Gear)
Is it worth paying £32.99 + £79 pa for just this program ?
There appears to be 2 different versions of the stick ?
What about YOUTUBE / web browsing ?
Is that accessible through FireTV stick ?

You can always do a monthly Prime and try it for £8 for a month

For me I'd say it has been very much worth it. You have the added benefits of being a Prime member plus a very flexible smart TV device. As well as all the Amazon content you can get the apps for Youtube, Netflix, BBC Iplayer, ITV Hub, All4 and more as well as being able to play games, view your photos etc.

One thing I would advise is to wait until the start of Amazon's Black Friday deals as the Fire TV devices tend to be heavily discounted, in fact you may be able to pick up the Fire TV 4K box for not much more than the stick is currently priced at.

What can the 4k box do that the firestick can't ?
And is it backwards compatible / ie Usable on a normal HD TV ?

It would be easier for you to read the comparison in the link provided above. It is fully compatible with a "normal HD TV".

I have 2 Amazon "boxes" and 1 stick and the biggest advantage of the box is that you can connect using ethernet, either directly to the router or via a homeplug. I find that on some programmes, particularly on Netflix, the playback can be jerky using the stick but the box is fine.

Totally agree with this as a Fire Stick customer. Amazon sticks are on of the few places you can get TVPlayer (not on Sky or Virgin) and UK TV Player other than on Sky box/Virgin box. There are other quirky apps too.
Of course you don't need an Amazon stick to watch Amazon TV. You just need a device that connects to your TV that allows Amazon content.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Good point - a laptop with HDMI lead to the TV is another option

The basic amazon fire stick is fine for streaming TV programmes. Much neater than connecting a laptop, There are a few free Amazon apps on the stick plus if you sideload Kodi or/and Mobdro apps you can watch virtually anything you want.

I understand that the basic firestick is HD compatible and has 8Gb memory ?
How much will 8Gb store ?
