When you say vegetable oil .Which type ...Not the Brand ..I mean sunflower ,rapes seed ,...which type do you use and why ..Is there some that Don't work ?
The basic cooking oil labelled "vegetable oil" in the supermarket is almost certainly going to be rapeseed oil, and that is generally said to be the most suitable. I think I read somewhere that although sunflower oil is ok, it's not quite as good for this purpose, and is usually slightly more expensive.
Have a look on google, there are loads of helpful sites - and they will also reassure you that it is all perfectly legal, no question ebout garages having to report you! Of course if you're caught using paraffin or red diesel, your feet won't touch the ground - that's maybe what the earlier poster was thinking about!0 -
you should not use veggy oil in cars with the Pump Deuse injection (eg vw tdi from 2001 onwards). Also as veggy oil is cleaner than Derv you will need to replace the fuel filter fairly early on as this will clog up. in sub 10 c temps the oil and derv may separate (i did a fridge test) with mixes of over 50% - so be careful in winter. I would advise not using veggy oil at all in winter.:j0
