Help With Acer Icona 8 Tablet Reboot

Hi folks, I have an Acer Icona Tablet 8 and I'm unable to reboot it.
I have tried normal methods and factory reset to no avail.
Can anyone please advise. I'm not too technically savvy, so please take this into account.

Many thanks to anyone who can help.

What do you mean by reboot? Some Android tablets don't actually have the option to reboot - you just turn them off, then turn them on again, so there's no problem there. You turn them off by holding in the power button, and the option will come up. If reboot isn't an option there, then you just have to turn off, and turn on.
Are you trying to wipe the tablet to sell it or to start again?

As above, can you explain exactly what your problem is/what you are trying to do ?

Is the tablet on at the moment and wont turn off? Or is your problem that it wont turn on ?
  • Thanks for reply.
I have tried the normal methods switching on and off with buttons, completed a factory reset, no reboot. Tried loading files from Accer site onto SD card, tablet can't read SD card, so can't reboot?

Im sorry, it's still not clear what you are actually wanting ..

"cant read sd card so cant reboot" doesnt really make sense.

"reboot" means to make your tablet turn itsself off and then back on again , Is this what you mean ?

    Format your SD card .

Do you actually mean cannot boot to recovery ??/ Can you boot to recovery .
  • I started having problems with tablet week, so did a factory reset and then tried to reboot as suggested via Acer website.
As the tablet would not reboot I asked Acer discussion board for advice. I was provided with a Zip file, that I downloaded onto an new Sandisk SD card. Card was formatted to Fat 32, after I placed the SD into the tablet, tablet did not recognise SD card. Have chatted with Acer today, they suggest that it is a hardware problem and suggest I send it in for repair. Hope this provides a clear description of my attempts to reboot the tablet.

    Thanks

Do you have the Windows or Android version of the Tab?

If it's the Windows version, then you can use the "Reset this PC" function in Settings.

If it's the Android version. Then turn the Tab off and then Press and hold Volume up and Power button at the same time until you boot into the Android system recovery. Then choose Wipe data/Factory Reset with your volume keys and then press the power button to confirm.

HOWEVER, Looking at your last post I think you mean your SD card is at fault rather than your Tab. If that's the case then use a PC to check if the SD card is even working. .
  • Thanks for reply If you read my post it clearly says that I have already completed the correct factory reset actions. This did not work, that is why I download a file onto the SD card to reboot the tablet. The tablet can not detect the SD card, so I can't reboot the tablet. Its not a just case of using the on/off and volume button to reset tablet, be great if that actually worked.

    Thanks

What ZIP file did they send you - what was it meant to do? Was the card meant to be formatted as FAT32 or something else?
I still don't know what you mean by reboot. Do you mean you've completed a factory reset, and the tablet won't start after doing it?
