The millions of customers comments for a start...

The manager offered & sorted a refund for you, job done.

    Thats exactly what happened.

    Your point is?

My point is a warning. A person could leave the shop and believe they have had a good discount when in fact they have been charged full price.
I have no particular gripe with Tesco per se.

I would have got my refund and just left the store.

I don't have a Tesco receipt to hand I'm sure you didn't have to do mental arithmetic, the offers are listed at the bottom of the receipt, it would say Indian meals with a saving of so much.

I purchased many items,so yes of course l had to do arithmetic. I was not aware that the discount may show at the bottom.
Secondly i got my refund and left the store.

So again what point are you making?

Tescos staff should have more training in politeness and common courtesy.
The staff are not personally responsible but they represent the business.
  • Did you buy the correct qualifying products for the offer? I bought the same meal deal today and it went through just fine 2 x chicken tikka masala, 1 x pilau rice 1 x sag aloo £ 5.00.

    A fair question.
Yes,chicken jalfreizy and pilau rice twice.

And no argument on refund. Maybe it was a glitch at this store.

A good question though peachyprice and constructive.

Not making a point, I'm just stating how I do things, a different way to you which is fine. I buy many things, some on offer and some aren't, I check the receipt and notice those on offer weren't deducted but I check the bottom and those on offer are deducted so no arithmetic needed.

Some years ago, when I regularly used Asda, there seemed to be an error on my bill at almost every visit. All were due to special offers not being entered or incorrectly entered into the system . I only became aware of the problems, so thereafter checked every receipt, when buying just a few items with two bags of dog food on a BOGOF offer, where the overcharge of £9 (for the 'free' bag) was rather obvious.

Nowadays, I don't use Asda, but do always check receipts, if I take a special offer.

I always check my receipts, especially at Tesco's as along with Morrisons they are the worst for mistakes.

I find Tesco Express / Metro the worse, I complained via social media once about being overcharged even though the shelf price showed I was correct. The store staff pointed out that in (Very) small print the date of the offer had expired.

I pointed out to Tesco social media that I noticed a number of other expired price labels and it was miss leading for customers. They had the cheek to ask me to go back to the shop and let them know what other expired price labels were being displayed. I politely pointed out that was their job and they needed to get on top of their housekeeping

Thats what happened to me if you read my reply a few spaces above, around a years worth of labels that instead of moving they just put a new one over it every time, the offer I saw was months out of date.
  • I did say to the Manager that as the discount didnt show on the receipt that 'millions of other customers today have also paid full price today for these items' (tongue in cheek obviously to make my point) and he said "we dont have millions of customers".
I was made to feel the guilty party(i should have said hundreds!)

    Tip don't do this again.

If you want to make a complaint it's best to try and build a rapport with the person dealing with your complaint and not to try and annoy or patronise them. To me this is blatant common sense but obviously some people need this pointing out to them!
