This is a cautionary tale.
Was shopping at local Tesco last night and selected the 'special offer' of Indian meals 2 mains and 2 sides for £5.
Bought other items and paid but didnt see discount at till. I had to do mental arithmetic on receipt and realised that i had in fact been charged the full price for these Indian meals i.e £9.
The girl at the till was totally unapologetic. She told me customer services was closed(it was 10pm) so to speak to Security to get Manager.
Security man was upset with the girl at till and was ranting to me that she should take responsibility and was nothing to do with him.
He did call a Manager who organised a refund.
I did say to the Manager that as the discount didnt show on the receipt that 'millions of other customers today have also paid full price today for these items' (tongue in cheek obviously to make my point) and he said "we dont have millions of customers".
I was made to feel the guilty party(i should have said hundreds!)
I left the store satisfied but not happy.
I dont know if i am more miffed that a) i was overcharged and needed to check the receipt or b) Nobody wanted to apologise or c) couldnt really care less.
This offer is on until 15.11.16 . Its on website also.
You have been warned and i feel better. Thanks for reading.

Both her and the security guard could do with customer service training, but that's minimum wage for you , and contract staff.Did the Manager apologise? I dont think you handled the complaint well either0

You should have got double the difference back for a wrongly priced item0

Was it her fault or was the system not programmed with the corrected prices? Not sure how the system works. Bought some Crackers from Sainsburys yesterday which had a bent box and reduced price. Till operator just scanned price and was reduced.(We checked)I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I would have got my refund and just left the store.
I don't have a Tesco receipt to hand I'm sure you didn't have to do mental arithmetic, the offers are listed at the bottom of the receipt, it would say Indian meals with a saving of so much.0 -
That particular shop doesn't get a million customer but Tescos as a consortium does.
I was once incorrectly overcharged at Tescos for an item that was incorrectly priced on the shelf. The manager's underling came out and I had to physically show him and, although I wasn't rude, indicated that they should take more care because other customers would have been incorrectly overcharged too. His reply was that they have 35,000 products and it's hard to check them all. Well, I've worked in retail advertising and all it needs is to take a little bit of care when not double checking pricing but you have to treble check.0 -

There was a time in Tesco 2 years ago when I saw an item on offer and took it to till and was charged full price, I found out it was because there was a 6 month old label on the shelf as when I went back I found different out of date labels behind the one at front for the same product so someone must of just put offer labels on and never removed them when they ran out.
CS didn't seem to believe me at first and I said I would go back and double check, then took photos of and brought back all the out of date labels mentioning someone must of not removed them so they apologised at that point and gave me a refund.
So yes with me they did rectify mistake and sell me at the lower price due to that.0 -
Did you buy the correct qualifying products for the offer? I bought the same meal deal today and it went through just fine 2 x chicken tikka masala, 1 x pilau rice 1 x sag aloo £ 5.00.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
