Are you sure that it wasn't a case of you accelerating to attempt to block an already manouvering BMW?
Perhaps read the OP again ... they both exit the roundabout at the same time, and enter the left/right lanes of the dual carriageway. (That's how I read it).0 -
My lane is clear, the BMW has traffic. I accelerate to overtake the traffic and the BMW indicates. I assume he will pull into the lane behind me? Instead, with a manoeuvre James Hunt would have been proud of, he slots the beamer between me and the car just in front of him in his lane.
Never assume that any other driver is going to do what you would do.
It's no different to sitting at a junction waiting to pull out and seeing a car coming from your right with their left hand indicator flashing.
You could assume that as he is indicating then he is going to turn into the road that you are exiting from and pull out in front of them, or you could do the sensible thing and wait until he has either started turning into the road or has gone past you.
As soon as you saw a vehicle that was parallel to you and that vehicle was indicating, you should have expected him to cut into your lane and slowed down accordingly.
After all, as they pulled into your lane they must have been slightly ahead of you so you could well have been in a blind spot in their wing/door mirror.0 -
Rule number 1 - assume that every other road user does not know how to drive safety and does not understand how a roundabout, or any other road, junction, carpark etc, works.
Rule number 2 - assume no other road user can see you.
You shouldnt go far wrong, trust noone and drive safe.0 -

Rule number 2 - assume no other road user can see you.
Rule number 3 - assume that anyone driving a german car believes they are above the law and expect utterly stupid driving.

Rule number 4 - assume everyone on the road is out to get you, and drive accordingly.0
