my iphone 6 (normal size) battery lasts maybe 2 hours of continual use, and the battery percentage-meter in top right corner will sit at 49% for ages then drop to maybe 21%, then shut down.
I've tried calibrating it to no avail, is next option get it replaced? A local expert who replaced the screen on it for me last summer replaces the batteries for £20, is this the next step?

Mines been doing the exact same in the last week.0

It's a warranty fault - but was too late to have it done for free - you either get Apple to change it, or do as `I did and exchange it for a 7!0

You mean a fault with the battery? Am happy to pay the local guy to replace it, but wanted to be certain its the battery thats given up and not something else? People at work have said (not sure how true it is) whenever a new iphone comes out, all of a sudden the previous version slows right down and battery life halves?0 -
Well it's partly true if your running iOS100

I'm having a similar problem with my 5C but I haven't done a software update, will this help resolve this issue?0

Yes a battery fault. I understood that a good many handsets were affected and Apple shops provided a swap. I still have a 3GS and it's no faster or slower with subsequent releases. What they may mean is the latest firmware makes older phones slow down - perhaps, but my 3GS won't install the latest firmware as it's too old.
If you get an aftermarket alternative battery installed, you will automatically lose any remaining warranty. For my new 7, I opted for AppleCare and the extended warranty that it provided.0 -

You cannot tell just by looking at it what's wrong with it. You could pay to have a new battery fitted and then find that the same problem persists. Probably the stock answer is to make an appointment at an Apple Store and have it looked at by an Apple Genius. The initial appointment will most likely be free but you will have to pay for repairs if the phone is out of guarantee.
An alternative and if you're paranoid is to use an Apple Authorised Service Provider although these are thin on the ground - my nearest one is 47 miles away.
However the phone shop just around the corner from me will fit a new battery while I wait for £27 or I can get a full service with new battery and screen and get it guaranteed for 6 months for £99. Not Apple Authorised though. So consider the local options before going further afield.0 -

Which version of iOS are you currently running OP?
And have you turned off features like Background App Refresh etc? It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0
