Sorry footguy, but your 'cut & paste' responses don't seem to be much help in this thread.

We use approximately 25% low rate electricity, whereas 7/24 is about 29%
It pays for us as demonstrated by consulting a comparison site.
The results may vary by region.
You know your consumption. You are asking the OP to take a 1 year gamble on their usage based simply on the fact that you manage to make it work, even though most don't.

lstar337 - I would respectfully remind you that the OP has previously agreed a fixed tariff whilst in this property ;)

But carry on ranting at me if it helps you :D
(but I don't really think it'll help the OP :()

But still no meaningful annual consumption figures, so that is of no help. :(

It is helping a little. I could do with hitting a heavy bag around for a little I think. :rotfl:

I think finding out if an E7 meter is even required will help the OP quite a bit. It'll certainly save a lot of messing about on their end.

I agree, the OP discovering if they would be better off not on E7 is important, and I explained how in an earlier post here

A simple consultation with any comparison site will establish that.

What kind of heating/hot water the OP has is irrelevant

As regards the remainder of your rants against me, the value of them to the OP are debateable ... and that is a debate I am not going to have with you here, sorry. :)

If heating and hot water are both from gas CH, then winter electricity consumption is not going to increase much-they'll just be some lights on for longer, and this is fairly marginal to total usage. So the OP can make a reasonable estimate of annual electricity consumption by pro-rata-ing their July-November usage up to 365 days. (obviously this can't be done for gas, but gas does not concern us here). Then put the figures into a comp site twice, once for single rate and once for E7. Job done.
While I accept that E7 does work for some people with gas CH and HW, it is very much a minority. It all depends on region and tariff.

It's not just region and tariff, you need to factor in the specifics of the gas central heating system and lifestyle of the occupants.

We have gas CH and E7 works for us... just. However, we have an ancient boiler situated in an outbuilding with the resultant long pipe runs. Running our boiler just for hot water in the summer costs twice as much as using the electric immersion heater.

We also get up early so showers, washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers etc are all used within the E7 period.

Thanks for explaining your particular scenario. That's exactly why I said that it will only work in a minority of cases. Your boiler location and early rising habits make it viable for you, just, but these conditions do not apply to the vast majority of homes with mains gas CH and DHW.
