Laptop wont connect to home sky internet

    You didnt open CMD with administrator privilages .
    You need to right click, and "run as administrator"

    Ah yes, I thought you meant in the black box which pops up. It didn't give me that option t there
    But Just tried as you said before, it seemed to follow commands this time
    But still the same, says Connected, local only. With red cross showing between unidentified network and internet

    Open an admin command prompt and type ipconfig /all followed by enter and copy and paste the results here.

    Tell me when you connect the laptop directly to the router via ethernet, do you switch of wifi on the laptop?

    It seems a bit odd that the ethernet adapter still thinks it's connected in the above listing?

    Do us a favour, shutdown (not a restart) the laptop (you are shutting it down right, rather than just closing the lid?), manually restart it and make sure it's not connected via ethernet, just use wifi and repeat the ipconfig command.

    I done it via the Ethernet, cause it was the only way I could send pasted info, do you mean do the command whilst not connected to Ethernet, then plug in Ethernet so I can send info

    That looks fine and I'm guessing that it is a wireless encryption problem.

    Check that you have the latest driver compatible with your operating system for your Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter here if not download and install.

    Agree, the next step would be to update your wifi adapter driver.

    Bring up the command prompt again (cmd) and type winver
