There will be a catch somewhere..if it sounds to good to be true it always is
To save a bit of hassle before you go do all the obvious checks, all lights(dont forget brake and fog lights)condition of wiper blades, screenwash, make sure your tyres are all legal, these are all common failures
What's the catch with we only mot then? They are a chain and often in industrial estates0 -
Thanks all. Lots of food for thought, though I think a few of you are being a bit too sceptical
I'll report back after the test on Sunday.

isn't the MOT just basically a quick checklist? surely at 43quid profit thats enuf.0

Bit of an anticlimax. Turned up on time for my 8.30am Sunday appointment, was promptly allotted a test bay, someone took my key, waited around in the reception (free coffee and wi-fi) for 35-40 minutes, got a pass, paid my fee and left.
Was a clean bright place and seemed very professional. 4 other customers paid for their MOTs while I was waiting, all their cars passed. If I had to guess I'd say they lean on the lenient side when looking for issues, but that'd be me hazarding a guess purely based on their no pass no fee promise.
All said and done, happy days!0 -
My last car was taken to one of these places in SE London.
It failed on wiper blades and a bulb out.
My mate drove it away, took it to Halfords and got the bits a couple of days later (good few miles away), replaced the parts and took it back.
Retested and 40 quid paid.
I went to collect the car and he was telling me about this no pass no fee thing.
I drove back to stoke that night but didn't feel comfy with it so took it to my local garage.
They checked it over and said the only thing the other place had missed was an advisory for tread on 2 tyres.
Never seen one of the no pass no fee places round here.0 -
They will be more lenient, in that a dust cover may go in your favor if whether it lets dirt in or not. A garage doing the test for £25 see it as an opportunity. If you want a guaranteed pass you pay double what you paid and need to know where to go0
