They might not do an official MOT if they can tell it's going to fail; get the failures out as quickly as possible to fit more paying tests in, or something.0 -
google streetview explains it all , loads of railway arches , different companies all doing "mot preperation"Save a Rachael

Actually the vosa fee is about £2 per test. It's about £54 for 25 slots!!0 -

The last time I was aware, the slot fee was less than £2 and it was only charged when a pass was issued. The Companies information listed in the Link, shows the business as "Motor Vehicle Testing and Repair." (my italics)
Draw your own conclusions...
Maybe it's a case of picking the nature of the business from a list and there was no description stating 'Motor Vehicle Testing Only'0 -
There's some really ridiculous answers here...
Quite simply they are a local version of we only mot or mot max as they used to be called.... the simple fact is you take the car to be repaired then return to them for the retest which is when you pay the fee.
It's more deferred payment than no payment, assuming you don't just scrap it if the failure is beyond economical repair.
You are basically paying for than average for an mot for peace of mind, they have no incentive to fail you because they won't profit from you and customers will usually come back for retest so not really a massive incentive to pass dangerous cars0 -

Yep, the garage we used operated as above; worked well.0 -
There will be a catch somewhere..if it sounds to good to be true it always is
To save a bit of hassle before you go do all the obvious checks, all lights(dont forget brake and fog lights)condition of wiper blades, screenwash, make sure your tyres are all legal, these are all common failures0 -
They are attracting people that might have fears of the motor trade, or the mot in particular.
£45 is a decent price to be getting as far as the mot is concerned, generally the price is lower than that as an average.
They are not testing cars to a fairer standard than most, but they are charging more for the privilege of being a test only centre.
Just to add, I wonder what happens when a car fails on nothing buy headlight adjustment or a bulb (the most common failure points)0
