Selling to Northern Ireland...Delivery Costs

Why did you not query the cost with the seller BEFORE ordering rather than trying to change the cost after you made your purchase.
Being originally from NI, it isn't down to your fanciful suggestion that Ebay don't realise the distinction, because they do.
It's because many couriers do charge a surcharge. Most large scale sellers have a contract with a courier who comes and collects every day. They're not going to pop down to the post office and send it that way because it's cheaper for you - because that's a massive cost implication for them.
You need to source a seller that sells what you want and sends by Royal Mail rather than expecting a seller to fall in with what you want to do.
Why should he? the person specified postage to UK, NI is in the UK, it was the seller tried to change the cost0 -

The original poster hasn't specified if the postage was included in the price or the seller tried to add it on afterwards. Should the surcharge have been included in the price, if the seller had set the postage prices correctly using rate tables, there was no justification in asking for a discount. The original poster didn't seem to appreciate that although Argos made no charge for picking it up, the order would not arrive by magic and a courier would be needed to get the order to Argos.
As I said - I'm originally from NI. I'm aware it's part of the UK, thanks for pointing it out though.
What I am saying is that couriers DO charge extra to deliver to Northern Ireland. Setting up additional processes for extra collections via different couriers may not be possible at the volume a seller trades at and may end up costing them money.
I stand by what I said - it doesn't feel fair, but it is what it is, not all sellers can or want to use Royal Mail, and I feel the onus is on buyers to look for a seller offering Royal mail rather than expecting the seller to provide a service they don't advertise.
If you feel differently, fair enough, that's your prerogative.0 -

I thought it was pretty clear from the post that he bought the item, and had paid and then the seller tried to charge more as he then had to get a refund.
If someone wants to charge extra for sending to NI that's up to them ill shop elsewhere, But don't try and tack the charge on because they haven't listed the item correctly in the first place.
as and aside it doesn't cost more for a seller to use argos click and collect whether its NI or Mainland0 -

That's not how I read it.
Thanks for your aside. Again, I did point that out in my reply to you.0 -

The seller has to send the order to a Northern Irish Argos store. Using a courier to do that will involve a surcharge if the courier charges surcharge to NI.
As I said in my post.
Please point out why this wouldn't be the case should you think I'm wrong.0 -

Perhaps im wrong here but you drop it off at argos with 3 set prices depending on parcel size, regardless of the store its going0 -

The original poster didn't say the parcel was being dropped off at an Argos though. They specifically said "picked up".
Click and collect is where the parcel is sent to an Argos store for collection.0 -

Before ordering on ebay you chose the method of delivery to your post code. The listing will then automatically tell you the cost of delivery depending on your choice of method of delivery to your post code.
There were no extra charges quoted for the method of delivery I chose which was Argos click and collect. This was all BEFORE I committed to buying the item.
I did not leave negative feedback with the seller because I thought that it could be eBay's fault and gave seller the benefit of the doubt.0 -

I would have filed an item not received case rather than cancelling0
