Spreadable butter is messed about with butter - not butter
Do as I do. Cut just a small amount of butter of the block and put it in the dish, not the whole block My kitchen is not heated 24/7 so it never goes oily and even in the summer months it's fine as you use it before it's had time to go oily
I have a rad in my kitchen & I like it on.
I want the butter that's been messed about with to make it spreadable.0 -
Have you tried kerrygold spreadable? it's only available in some supermarkets...i know sainsburys definitely sell it. It's pure butter, no additives but somehow it's softer. Definitely try it out if you haven't done so already.
Yes, I've had that one & the M&S one that's they same.
They aren't really spreadable though.0 -

What a brilliant website, love the Thug Cookbook and several of the mugs0 -
I wouldn't like that, it would melt it where it touched it & make it oily.
I don't really like room temp butter, I like it from the fridge, but you can't spread any butter from the fridge.0 -

I have a very warm kitchen/combined living room. I take my butter out of the fridge a short time before I want to use it. If there is any left over I pop it back into the fridge. It tastes like butter from the fridge if it is not left out too long, but long enough to be able to spread it.
My butter of choice is Netherend farmhouse salted butter and it is in a round packet so I just slice a small circle off it. I buy cheaper butter for cooking. Not Rachmaninov

Butter can only be spread at room temperature, hence the need for a proper butter dish. True butter was never meant to be kept in a fridge. It was always kept in the larder, along with daily milk, cream and cheese deliveries.0 -
This is the butter dish I use which keeps my butter spreadable all year round.

It stops it melting during the summer but also keeps it spreadable during winter. My house is never heated above 18C year round.0 -

we have suggested butter dishes, we have suggested only small amounts of butter in the dish, we have suggested warming butter knives and butters mixed with oils
Now you tell us you live in a hot house where all butter will melt0
