Hi,
As the title really! The local agents in France are notorious for the high fees. We thought using an online agent or setting up our own website might be the best route to success. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Think about your likely buyer. Who are they, and how are they going to become aware of your property?
Somehow, I doubt that French agency fees have changed markedly since you decided to get involved in the French property market. Or were you expecting it would somehow be identical to the UK...?0 -
There was a big discussion on an ex pat website recently and the conclusion was that the best way to sell is an ad on here.

If you want to sell this property in France you need to contact your local French estate agent and sell it through them. You also need to take their advice about how much you will get for it. In my experience too many people want French properties to sell for what they would in the UK. In some places they will in others they won't. Accept the valuation of the local agent.0

Setting up your own website will do nothing. Nobody will look at it.
You need to be on the nnnn.fr equivalent of Rightmove (where nnnn is its name, and '.fr' is the equivalent of '.uk.'
The online agents in the UK will have access to websites and portals specific to the UK. French agents will have the access to the French equivalent0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the tip about https://www.leboncoin.fr - much appreciated!
I'd like to start initially trying to sell using an online agent, with an audience of potential buyers in the UK. Has anyone used an Online Agent that offers overseas sales?
Thanks,

It seems ridiculous to market a house in France in the UK.
British people looking to buy in France will be looking in France.
So will Germans, Dutch, Belgians... and even French people.
How many of those will be looking in the UK?0 -

Thanks for this feedback. Do you have a suggestion for an online agent that could also market the property to those countries that you suggest?0 -

You are saying thanks without seeming to understand what you are being told. The answer is to use an agent based in France rather than one based in another country. The question you really need to find the answer to is what options there are in France that offer a service at lower fees than the established estate agents charge.0 -

Thanks, I understand very clearly. I was hoping someone might actually give me a name of a website or online agent that they had used, either in France or out.0 -

Have you considered asking on a French equivalent to this site?0
