Anything by Julia Donaldson - we're big fans of The Smartest Giant In Town, Tabby McTat, Zog and Charlie Cook's Favourite Book, among others.
Also, Baby Brains by Simon James."I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by."0 -
Every child should have the very hungry caterpillar, I bought it for my nephew when he was about 18 months or so, apparently it got read to him very many times at his request :rotfl:
When I was small I liked to read the Mr Men books, then later Blyton. And for some considerable way down the line, The snow goose is a beautiful and very moving (and ultimately very sad) story.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Here's some of mine:
Frog and Toad (there's 4 or 5 of them)
Chilly Billy (about the little man who lives in the fridge)
The Magic House (note, not Magic Treehouse - out of print though - Author is Joe Austen)
Mr Men (the original series)
The Garden Gang (out of print)
A great author is Allan Ahlberg (usually with his wife). There's tens of books that are great reads. The Happy Families series I still remember to this day. He also wrote the Jolly Postman and Funnybones series.
Another worth looking at is Pat Hutchins.0 -
There are so many fab books. Far too many to mention. We love reading and read alot and have lots ( possibly too many books ) .
It will depend on your child for example my daughter loves gruffalo and room on a broom, she reads anything now and we get a new book each month. We found that anything which meant silly voices or looking around really good. Who does not love where is spot?
Now we both love the trip to buy a book and get a coffee or hot chocolate. Its a tradition as she says ha ha. My son mmm again anything very varied taste. No he loves the Diary of a wimpy kid series. Thier tastes will change and we tried to let them explore and develop their own likes and dislikes.
I would try the book Depository very reasonable price as well as ebay.
Wash your mouth out!!

I never throw books out. I even keep the Childrens' books from when my children AND grandchildren read them. I was furious when my daughter said she had given away the three Jolly Postman books. But wonderfully, they were rediscovered - she hadn't after all. So now these and others are ready for my great-grandson - he's only two and a bit young for them. But he's ready for some of the others and loves when we sit down together and point out the pictures and words. It's never too young to start.0

I used to work in a nursery with children between 3 months and 3 years. One of the all time favourite books which always fascinated and was requested time and time again was :
Mr Brown Can Moo! Can You? by Dr Seuss0 -

We subscribed to a Dr Seuss book club which meant we got a new book every month: money well spent!
Three others I particularly remember are 'I am a rabbit' - no idea of other details, but DS1 wanted it every night, and called it 'My am a rabbit'.
'Little Rabbit Foo Foo' riding through the jungle and so on - very useful for the phrase "I don't like your attitude!"
and 'Mog and Me', I can still recite most of this, with actions ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
The Tale of Mucky Mable. I'm 33 and I can still recite it0
