When to book UK - New York

We're planning on going to New York next November - my partner wants to take part in the marathon. The flights aren't released until next month but would we be better waiting until January to book in case we can get a good deal on airline sales?

Do you have somewhere to stay in NYC? I do quite a lot of flight/hotel type trips and the hotel prices in Manhatten were a shock to me, admittedly we wanted to stay in the Times Square area, which carries a premium but even with reasonable flight prices, I found it hard to match BA flight/hotel prices.

Virgin holidays, not Virgin Atlantic, have prices for next November so worth pricing up your trip there to give you an idea of price. The NY marathon will increase demand and prices too.

There's a New York Thread for these Q's

    Book refundable accommodation NOW.

Look at how to get an entry into the marathon-It's not easy or cheap!

    Look at flights in Jan.

Have a check and see if the Thomas Cook flight sale covers the route. We flew Manchester to Jfk last June, booked it the May before.

Plus, if you are happy to be an easy 15 subway ride from Times square/ central station, have a look at the Hiton and suites Long Island city.

We got an amazing deal there, the subway is more or less outside and you can see the Mahattan skyline, we didn't pay for the view room, but could still just see the Empire State building from our room. It was a really good room too, with a mini kitchen. Breakfast was included, nothing fancy, but was free!
  • Thank you :) will go have a scope out.

Will also have a look on the New York thread, sorry new to the forum so getting used to things!
