We like Brittany and The Vendee (although Vendee was too hot in the school summer holidays for our pasty, gingery family!) but probably a bit of a longer drive than 3 hours. We've broken our journey at campsites nearer the channel ports before, and liked Camping Le Vallee at Houlgate and Cote de Nacre at St Aubin - lots of nice beaches and traditional Normandy architecture in the area. Food and drink is good too

I would also recommend cote de nacre in St aubin Sur mer, a lovely village on a D-day beach.Cover me in honey and fling me to the hermaphrodites!0
