O/S Daily Monday 7th November 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, wet underfoot and now raining, hope the wind has died off a bit as it's been really blustery.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work, and DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly.
Dinner tonight is gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas/veg. Lunch yesterday was a naughty carvery with friends we were away with, very nice it was too and not expensive, but that has blown my GC budget somewhat, but will still keep going just to see how much I go over.
It was lovely to get away just for 1 night but it was so cold, the wind had a real bite to it, and we had a gazebo up with 2 x sides in it and one of the big cars parked behind it to block the wind which it did very well, but we ate whilst watching the fireworks and then everyone having got thoroughly cold retreated into the caravans to thaw out.
Back to work today for me, although I did work Sat morning, I'm expecting it to be quite busy as Monday's generally are. I'm working again this Saturday but that's the last one - I'll be ready for a break as by then I will have worked the last 3.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Thanks nmlc for starting the thread.
Well latest news on DFIL is not good. The family haves signed a DNR now and it's just a waiting game.
Had a strange weekend . Made the DGD birthday cake and iced it just to realise it should of been done next weekend so looks like I am going to make another one lol. She enjoyed it anyways. I would of froze it but the icing would of bled into each other if I had.
DD2 came back from her weekend away and was full of stories about the fun she had. She still doesn't know I have quit work . Will tell her tonight as I didn't want her weeked ruined.
Got a meeting with the big boss this morning but nothing is going to change my decision. I have this feeling g that it is going to be messy but Tbh right now I don't care as I have enough to deal with to worry about hurting his feelings.
Dinner tonight will be roast chicken as after a busy day yesterday I did not get round to cooking it.
DD2 had better do her washing today as I really don't want it filling the now empty basket.
Anyhoo better get on.
Hugs to all in need xxBright Blessings xx0 -
Morning All
Cold here, the car will need scraping this morning. It's been lovely weather this weekend but a chilly wind, washing all but dried on Saturday, put the bedding back on (unironed!).
Have a good holiday TA, so sorry to hear of your DDs friend.
Had a good day in Glasgow with DD yesterday, bought a few things including a new winter coat. I have a short padded jacket and a very thick long coat so got something in between. When I was walking on Saturday the long coat was too warm, I had to stop to take my fleece off.
Off to work to see how the builders have got on, they were knocking a wall through so we can have a proper reception window.
Have a good week, take care. XX0 -
Thanks for starting the thread nmic. Cold out there this morning - need to put more birdie food in the feeder once it gets light as they'll be hammering it today! Feeling really sad this morning - no idea why - perhaps it is the change of the season/clocks from last week coming home to roost.
Hope everyone else is feeling a bit better now - I know some folks had upsetting news and upset critters in the last few days. Sending hugs/positivity and xxxxx's to all who want them. To those in a dark place, keep going sweetheart - you can do this xx. Will go and light some candles for those who need a bit of brightness today (rose - light and summery)
Have a beautiful Monday (and wrap up!!)
p.s. LWW you be kind to yourself OK xx2022 | Back to the fold - need a Money Saving mojo reboot!

I'm off to work in a sec, my L&M has a cuppa, the fish have been fed and there is washing on the line.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone,
Hugs to TA and family, how upsetting for you, hope you find some peace during your time away.
Will need to be up and at em this morning as DM needs to be at the bungalow for a visit from her Stoma nurse, will ask the nurse today what happens when Mum is too poorly to travel as don't think that is so far away. The journey yesterday really took it out of her and she was very tired when we took her back to DB's. Let's hope the care in this instance can be transferred
Have a good day everyone, take care folks especially LWW and Slowly xx0 -

Morning everyone,
Thanks for the thread nmlc x
Hugs to Lainey, LWW, TA and Slowly57. We are all here for you xx.
Today looks to be the nicest of this week. DH and I had planned to go to Eltham Palace this week so I think we will go today, just need to check opening times etc. We haven't been before but apparently it's lovely. DD and DS2 have just left for school. DD missed Thursday and Friday as we went to Prague for a short break. She hasn't had the best time lately and needed some respite.
Dinner tonight will be cooked by DS1 - he doesn't know it yet, but everyone needs to cook one evening a week now I'm going to be working full time. Will let him loose on Mexican Chicken (nice knowing you all......)
Have a good day all

Hi everyone!
Thanks for starting the thread nlmc. Your weekend certainly sounded chilly! Brr!
Hope your meeting goes well LWW and you stand your ground. Sad news about your DFiL.
Building work sounds so exciting Camelot.
Have a good break away TA.
Haha coxy! Good luck! I actually think it's a good thing. When I went to university, in our house if 10 (5 girls, 5 boys) I was the only one who could cook because I'd grown up helping mum in the kitchen. My dad can cook too, but he gets a bit stressed in the kitchen. I'm a bit more adventurous. I like to try new things that they'd never make because I can't compete with their cooking. Although I recently got the accolade of the best Victoria sponge and the best roast potatoes, oh and yesterday they kept singing my praises for my winter vegetable crumble and my bread and butter pudding. I'm only 29, but I have a wide repertoire and my poor boy doesn't often get beige freezer food. It does mean eating out with him is nice because I can just ask for a child's portion of something from the adult's menu.
Last antibiotic today! Hurrah! I've a crazy time at work + a meeting, then home to do jobs and when I pick the boy up at 4:30pm I have to go to the school math workshop until 5pm. Blurgh.0 -
Morning all
TA hugs to your daughter how sad for the lady children, try to relax on your getaway
LWW Hope your meeting goes well stick to your guns and do whats right for you
Bit of a mixed bag for us this weekend I am in today waiting for the pest control man as it looks like we have unwanted guests in the loft again we had them earlier in the year but managed to get rid but as the cold weather returns they need somewhere warm as we are in the middle of a terrace of 7 it seems they are running through the lofts but it stresses me out and i can't sleep so at least 3 of us will see the pest man today to try to put a stop to it for now but we don't know where they are getting in so thats a major problem
DS haas gone on another army course so early to the station this morning
Going to tidy up after clearing out under the stairs at the weekend . Dinner tonight is chicken casserole n roasties
Have a great day whatever you are up to x0 -
Good morning,
Nothing but blue skies here this morning but boy oh boy it's cold.
I had a weekend to myself and managed to get quite a lot done so had a very productive weekend. Made my lunch for today and I've made snacks for the rest and planned my breakfast/lunches/dinners.
I'll pop into the gym tonight after work then finish reading my book, finding it hard to get into.
LWW - Thinking of you and your family today.
Coxy - Haha, good luck tonight.0
