Booking flights through flight centre

I am looking at booking some flights for next summer through flight centre as currently they are offering me the best price. The flights are with Virgin Atlantic for 8 people.

Normally I always book direct with the airline, on credit card so that I am protected should anything happen to the airline.

I was planning on paying for my flight centre booking by credit card, but I read something about potentially not being covered as they are not the company providing me with the service - Virgin Atlantic are.

Can anyone advise what my best option would be, I wanted to be covered should anything happen to flight centre or to Virgin Atlantic.

All the travellers do have annual travel insurance policies also.

I've never made such a large booking before so I'm a little anxious about doing it right :)

What percentage of the cost are you saving by booking with flight centre vs Virgin/Delta direct?

  • About 15% cheaper going with flight centre. Just over £2000 in total.

For a group of 8, it would be worth telephoning Virgin and seeing if you can negotiate a group fare. Let them know what Flight Centre would charge and see if they will match the price.

Should anything happen to Flight Centre, your card would protect you. In the unlikely event that Virgin Atlantic failed, you would have to rely on your insurance: see what your policy says about scheduled airline failure.
  • Thank you, will try calling in the morning and see if they can match the price.

My current travel insurance does not cover me, but I will call and see if scheduled airline failure can be added.

    Thank you :)
