Steamer good for killing / removing mould ?

I have a patch of mould on the ceiling of the bathroom and worried that using something like vinegar could stain the ceiling. Also being rough textured it would be difficult to wipe off.
I have a good powerful clothes steamer so was wondering would that kill it off without needing chemicals or scrubbing?

It is worth a try as it would not do much harm - however having just finished cleaning mould off my bathroom with a bought product, I can highly recommend it! A few squirts of the foam (PS it does drip so make sure nothing in its way, like plants!) and in 30 minutes my ceiling is like new!
The product I used is called HG Bathroom Mould remover foam spray.
Good Luck.Well lets see - I dip in and out of MSE all the time but I still come back - have done since 2007!!!

If I had mould I'd be just a little wary of adding more moisture into the atmosphere from the steamer.0

HG mould spray is great--it even removes a lot of the stains from grout and sealant. It also stops mould recurring as quickly as any other products I've tried (as I discovered when living in a tiny, very damp house).
I wouldn't use my steamer for ceiling mould as that will force extra moisture into the ceiling, which is unlikely to help in the long term.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

Another vote for the HG mould remover!0

If the ceiling has a coat of Artex or similar textured finish, there's a good chance of softening or even patch of finish falling off using steam, there's also the problem of adding extra moisture to the patch of mould.
As others have said, HG mould remover or Astonish do a cheaper (but not quite as effective) product."We could say the government spends like drunken sailors, but that would be unfair to drunken sailors, because the sailors are spending their own money."

Thank you, folks, I'll pop out and see if I can pick up the HG or Astonish.0

Agree with others than steam cleaning is not a good idea.
Once you have got rid of the mould, you should consider ways of keeping the condensation/moisture in the bathroom down. Opening window....I know, in the winter it's not something you want to do, but essential unless you have an extractor fan. You can get those dehumidifier bead things in pound shops, so might be worth trying them out.0 -
The Astonish one is just as good as the D*ttol one and less than a third of the price.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

But neither of those are a patch on the HG one.
I buy mine from Amazon with Swagbucks vouchers, so it's effectively 'free'.[FONT="][FONT="] Fighting the biggest battle of my life.Started 30th January 2018.

I've just got around today to using the HG Mould Spray I bought a couple of weeks ago at Lakeland, on the sealant in my shower. Despite its claims, and 3 applications, it has done diddly squat in getting the black stains out. Not even a change of colour to brown which it said it may do on the instructions.
