Boiler servicing contracts

Options
Please can I ask all , if any one has had issues with what boiler service contract means from Home Energy Services HSE
They claim SERVICE means general monitoring & if problems detected customer is given quote to do any repair if necessary!!
Most of us interpret service where item is stripped cleaned & general items are replaced
Please post what your experience may be from this company?
Many Thanks

I have no knowledge of that company, but to me a boiler service is where an engineer opens it up, checks that it is working correctly, adjusts anything that needs adjusting, then fills out a form for you to file away.

I wouldn't expect "servicing" to include repairs.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • Thanks for this, but just making sure it working does not constitute a full service, for example when you take your car in for service the always change mins bits that are necessary, check it is than full working and no other faults exist
Surly this what a boiler service should be good?
    K regards

Unless they say in the quote that certain small parts are free then you pay.
Of course they could set a higher price and fit certain bits regardless of need. My garage charges separately for any oil although it is changed every time.
I could have had a major oil leak when in a different district so would not need it for a service soon afterwards.

My boiler has never needed a new part, only adjustment. Perhaps you could describe the bits to which you refer

It would appear Home Energy Services are now part of Homeserve

    https://www.homeserve.com/uk/home-energy-services

This describes the one-off boiler Homeserve Service schedule:

    https://www.homeserve.com/uk/insurance/annual-boiler-service

Nowhere does it state parts are replaced free. A PCB board on a modern boiler can cost £hundreds.

To get that sort of cover(i.e. service and repairs to boiler) you would be required to pay anywhere between £20 to £40 a month.

To take the car servicing analogy further, the service itself might cost £100 but on top of that I pay for oil, filters, brake fluid(when required) etc etc. I am also phoned to authorise replacement/repair if there is something else that needs attention.
