Nissan dealership issue

I am looking to buy a Nissan Micra. Ive seen one at my local West Way dealership, pre registered and costing £9000. On searching through the Westway website I saw exactly the same model, spec, colour etc for £1000 less, 100 miles away in Manchester
The car is over 100 miles away from me but according to website Westway "vehicle can be delivered to your local dealer subject to our standard delivery charge of £95'
I spoke to local dealership who have offered to knock £500 off there car but will not price match. Also seemed to deny all knowledge of movement of vehicles for £95! Was also told that the other dealership were "illegally underselling and the price would go up on Monday" I really like the car but feel I am being misled.

Interesting that only Manchester has Acentas at £1,000 off, everywhere else they are £9K. So £500 off doesn't seem a bad deal considering you are only paying £400 more than the Manchester cars.

100 miles isn't a long distance to travel to save £1000.
Taking into account the delivery charge and the local seller's offer to take £500 less, the saving would actually be £405.

How many times have you read in this forum "I have a problem with my car, but the seller is miles away and wants me to return it, but it's too far."

"It's not the seller's fault you chose to buy a car so far away."

£405 extra to have a car from a local supplier five minutes away doesn't seem too bad to me.

I'd just go with the local one.

It is a [STRIKE]Renault Clio[/STRIKE] Nissan after all, and you will likely be spending a lot of time taking it back when things break & fall off! :D
You will get a lot more good will if you bought the thing off them rather than rubbed their noses in a £400 saving.

(Search on here the amount of trouble people have with Nissan aftercare & warranty work)

(Yes I am the "proud" :rotfl: owner of a [STRIKE]Renault[/STRIKE] Nissan, and I am writing from anecdotal experience, not hearsay)

Yes, but if buying from a franchised main dealer and you have a warranty issue or the likes all dealers around the country are responsible for helping out, regardless where you bought it from. All depends on the age of the car, if it's under warranty, etc.

Mum bought an Audi from London and had it delivered to Scotland. Saved thousands and the local dealer has done all recalls, warranty work, etc without fail.

Hell, I used to own an imported car from Japan and the local dealer carried out recall work without batting an eyelid.

The only time it comes into question is when it comes down to gestures of good will that ONLY that dealer can offer and if you purchase from a non-franchised dealer, etc. So can't tar all scenarios with the same brush.

As for the OP. Simple...drive to Manchester, get the cheaper car, you MAY even be able to haggle another £500 off if you get lucky, but at the very least you have saved £400-ish. Also, why pay £95 for delivery. You can always just drive home the 100 miles from Manchester....100 miles of fuel will be far less than £95.

    Thank you for the replies.
I think I will just take the local car. I was involved in a serious accident over a month ago and the car was written off and having to buy a car with insurance money. Im afraid I don't have extra money to spend and have a strict budget. Getting to Manchester and finding the franchise is a bit beyond me at the moment!
I just thought they would deliver the exact same car onto the forecourt of local dealer as promised on the website.

Aren't anecdotal and hearsay the same thing? Did you mean actual experience?

I thought anecdotal meant "based on personal experience" whereas hearsay is gossip possibly based on someone else's, so I can't verify it?

I'm willing to be corrected, as I only have O level English from a long time ago...
